The High Temperature Applications of Rigid flex PCB
We have discussed the density of rigid flex PCB and HUD application of flexible PCB.
If you have learned rigid flex PCB, you will find there were many other use areas.
So this post will focus on the high Temperature Applications of the rigid flex PCB.
We are going to separate several parts.
The materials of rigid flex PCB
Most of time, rich experienced engineers will choose Polyimide as the main material of the rigid flex PCB.
You know the Polyimide can provide better dissipate heat performance.
Even better that some traditional dielectric materials.
This mean use Polyimide made of rigid flex PCB can provide the added benefits of vastly improved flexibility and ideal dissipate heat ability.
In some special rigid flex PCB design, can be exposed to extreme temperature applications.
The temperate range from -200C to 400C, and larger than some metal core PCB boards.
Three basic features of rigid flex PCB in high temperature applications
The first one is expansion ability of the rigid flex PCB
You know most of the natural materials will be expanded when increase temperature.
And the expansion change can affect the electronic performance of PCB board.
Under 4MCPCB experience, expansion and contraction are minimized when using Polyimide material.
Then is the chemical resistance of rigid flex PCB.
The chemical ability always changes depend on temperate.
Due to rigid flex PCB use Polyimide material, it’s good chemical resistance to oils, acids, gases etc.
Last the radiation and UV exposure resistance of rigid flex PCB.
You know rigid flex PCB has widely applications, and some of the applications should adjust extreme environment.
So the radiation and UC exposure resistance is very important for those applications.
The rigid flex PCB provides good radiation and UC exposure resistance, this is the biggest one reason that it’s can be used in high temperature areas.
